We need new baby songs!

Have you ever carefully listened to baby songs?

I recently have and was kinda horrified in a funny way once I listened carefully to their lyrics.

In order to learn some baby songs in English, I searched YouTube for the top ones.

The first song I listened to is called "Hush little baby, Don't Say a Word"

Like seriously? :D Even its own name it's too much and the lyrics won't disappoint you either:

"Hush, little baby don't you

Hush, little baby don't say a word

Papa's gonna buy you a mocking bird"

Okay, I know that the rest of the song isn't that bad but do we really want to sing a song to our kids that is telling them not to say a word? Doesn't it go against Freedom of speech?

The second song was "Humpty Dumpty". Have you ever heard this one? Well I encourage you to read the lyrics carefully, it's worth it:

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall

All the king's horses and all the king's men

Couldn't put Humpty together again"

Like whaaaat? :D No no, that's too much. So poor Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, he fell and no one was able to fix him so he basically died. What a great song! Yep, that's what I want to sign to my daughter before her bedtime.

Wait and there is more

And I actually like this one - it's called "5 little ducks"

Although it has a happy ending, the story line could have been a bit more cheerful in my opinion.

"Five little ducks went out one day Over the hills and far away Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack" Only four little ducks came back"

And so it goes until there are no more ducks and the mother duck is sad and goes out alone.

At the end all of the ducks come back but isn't it a bit too sad? Doesn't it slightly encourages separation anxiety?

Those are only a few examples but I believe they prove my point - we need new baby songs ASAP!

** of course I am kidding **
